What is Cystoscopy?

Cystoscope is a specialized tool to screen the inside of bladder. Doctors commonly use this tool to look for cancers and ulcers. Patients with IC may be diagnosed with ulcers, which can confirm the manifestation of IC if its other symptoms are also present.

If the medical experts would identify an ulcer, bladder stones or any sign of tumor in cystoscopy, they would recommend bladder biopsy. This would be more helpful in recognizing other underlying bladder problems.

To date, there is no best way to diagnose IC accurately. However, if a patient has classical symptoms of IC and no sign of bacterial infection and blood in urine, there are much more chances for the occurrence of IC.
